Winter is Coming…

Well summer is over (kind of in Sacramento even though we still have 100+ weather!!)…

With that, comes Halloween decorations, pumpkin spice, turkey, lazy weather, treats, chocolate, wine, and repeat……

Many of us will become busy with holiday stuff, school events, sporting events (football season!!), meet ups with friends, etc. etc. When these things happen we lose track of all we’ve accomplished and/or set out to accomplish, while training gets put on the back burner because “other priorities” or “financial stress” takes front and center…

Why You Should Be Dancing!

What made me start dancing?

In case you are not aware, I have been dancing in some fashion for about two years now. When I first began, I had no clue what I wanted. I started out aimlessly trying to find something I would connect with, and could never stick to a single style. I tried two step, salsa, tango, night club two step, east coast swing, and of course the ever so popular line dancing. While I knew I absolutely wanted to dance,  I became very unsure as to which style I wanted to invest my energy to. Randomly, I would come across West Coast Swing by accident. During this time I had the pleasure of watching Jason and Yvonne Wayne. I cannot tell you how enamored I become while watching them “strut” around the floor; the music, the moves, Jason’s attention to detail and where Yvonne was, Yvonne’s ability to non-verbally listen to Jason and do what he wanted her to do. Holy smokes they lit the place up, and to put it simple it was HOT!

See it as a bonus to the social events and holiday activities. 🔻✖️Plan and extended workout(or higher intensity if your pressed for time) the day of an event. Get the metabolism revved up so it burns through the excess calories.🔻✖️Don't come into a meal starving. Fasting up to a meal may shrink your stomach, but you will be more inclined to reach for higher calorie foods.🔻✖️Know when your going to eat bad and not. When your undecided, you won't fully enjoy the the benefits of eating good or bad. Be intentional!🔻✖️Control your portions! Eat slow, enjoy, and don't stuff yourself to the max.🔻✖️Watch alcohol intake! Not necessarily for the calories, but your lowered inhibitions. It's a lot easier to go for seconds and thirds when your schnockered. 🔻✖️No Leftovers! Get back to eating clean as soon as your home.TRAIN WITH ME, in person or online. 5 REASONS WOMEN SHOULDN’T BE INTIMIDATED BY POWERLIFTING

Caitlyn Trout setting up for her deadlift

By Caitlyn Trout

When I first began powerlifting, I had little or no training experience, period. I knew nothing about the sport itself except for what my friends in the gym had taught me. Later, once I got further into training and completed my first competition I began to ask myself, “Why didn’t I start powerlifting sooner?”. The truth is, I really didn’t know what I was missing out on. That’s when it dawned on me—there are probably many more women out there that would love powerlifting but are just too intimidated or have no clue how exciting and uplifting a powerlifting meet really is. In this article I’ll explain some of reasons why I love powerlifting and why more women should take the initiative to powerlift.
